From the City Administrator...

Welcome to the City of Lancaster! We are proud of our community and our citizens, who are our most valued and unique assets. We are a small city of less than 10,000 people situated between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina. Our history has been tied financially and personally with Springs Industries, begun by Leroy Springs in the late 1800's, and continued by his family. Although we still have our Springs' industrial roots, we are growing with new industries and businesses. Our public schools and the University of South Carolina campus, our growing art community, which includes the well-known sculptor Bob Doster, our Performing Arts Series, and our historical sites combine to provide an environment blending the arts, history, and education. Our See Lancaster SC staff promotes tourism and invites you to visit!

As a City, we provide excellent police, fire, and utility services, and are dedicated to providing these services with true "southern charm". One of our citizens suggested we adopt the phrase we are "the little city that works". I hope you agree.
